Why You Need to Take Breaks During the Day

HI (1).png

Today I'm here to talk to you about one of my favorite topics, and that's taking breaks during your work day.

Meditation is a great way to take a break during the day, because it actually makes you switch off. Having a cup of tea is another great way to take a break.

And, you know what, I don't condone smoking whatsoever, but people who used to smoke used to take breaks all the time. And they were often the most hard-working people, because they actually went outside, got fresh air—aside from the cigarette smoke around them. But they got up from their desk; they left, sometimes two or three, four, five times a day, and they actually did some big deep breathing. Now, it’s a pity they were inhaling the nicotine, which is not helpful. But they were doing some really nice belly breathing.

And we can take a leaf from that book, minus the cigarettes, and actually take breaks during the day. The reason why we need to take breaks is because our brain was never designed to focus for long periods of time.

Neither was our butt, they're not designed to be sat on for a long period of time. If you're feeling stuck, and like you can't get this done or don't know what you’re going to do, the last thing you want to hear is: Go and take a break. But that is the first thing that you need to do.

So go and make yourself a cup of tea; get your muse headband on. Do a bit of meditation, or otherwise just step outside and do 10 big belly breaths. It might feel so annoying. Often I find even going to the toilet during the day annoying, because I'm in the zone, and I'm ready to crack on.

But if you don't it will accumulate and you'll end up getting sick, tired, or something will crash around you. So make sure you take those mini breaks throughout the day, because, remember, we're trying to achieve the Rich and Relaxed lifestyle, not the rich and wrecked lifestyle.
